I like the Boston Doubletree in the Theater District, very close to Boston Common and a lot of the historic sites.

We stayed at a hotel near the Riverside stop on the Boston metro. The area is called Newton-Riverside, I think. We rode the Boston T each day into the city. It's easier to use the metro than to drive in Boston. Traffic is a snarl all the time and parking is a nightmare. Even if you take a car, park it at the hotel and take the T. You will be glad you did.

If you have a car, don't pick a hotel in Boston. You will pay a fortune, unless you end up in a bad area. If you have a car, choose a suburb like Waltham (north of Boston) or Framingham (west of Boston). The further away you get from Boston proper, the cheaper the hotel will be. The Waltham area has lots of hotels because that is a big business district. If you will be there on the weekend, you can probably get a good deal since the hotels will mostly cater to business travelers.

The ymca consitution inn. $24 at the least. you get acess to the ymca's ficillties and its near the harbor

Boston is a safe city. Even downtown looks safe. Usually the prices are really high in the city. Ive been in a youth hostel in Everett (north of Boston) 25 dollars a night. You get there by subway and bus.

Hi we stayed in doubletree at the egde of Boston. Free parking at the hotel, nice rooms, but you need a cab to get to the subway.
