Great question. I wish I had some recommendations but it was packed when I got there and had only one option which I don't recommend. Always ask to see the room thats available before deciding if your going to stay there. Look around at others. Cheep places are called guest houses. Ask the taxi driver to drop you next to them. Krabi did have the best prices on shirts and especially good prices on jade rings. I liked a few shops near the end of the main street running TO the water.
