That region of Alberta is great for hole-in-the-wall type stuff too, stuff your friends would never believe exist, for example the Torrington Gopher Museum, various non-mapped Hutterite colonies that have the absolute best hand-made commodoties etc.

The Icefields parkway between Jasper and Banff is a must-see, glacier lakes, water falls and the athabasca glacier

Try dog sledding in Canmore(Snowy Owl Tours). It is a blast and the guides are extremely friendly.

Bow Lake and all the area between Banff and Jasper, lots of trails ; Drumheller, with its dry "lunar" landscape, is really impressive and different

You should definitely visit Banff and walk the Sundance Canyon trail, and kayak on the Bow River. Both will provide you great photo opportunities.

Lake Louise is very scenic and the Badlands on the way to Drumheller shows the weird landscape carved by the glaciers millions years ago and that was where a lot of dinosaurs bones were found. Drumheller has a 1st class dinosaur museum.
