Stay in a B&B in Drumcondra it's a 5min bus ride from the city center and not as expensive.

I recommend the Avalon House in dublin, it's in the city centre and you can walk easily to the temple bar etc. I stood some nights in there and it's pretty cool :)

try to find something near 'temple bar', it really is the best part in dublin. and you can finde b&b from €20 on, if you don't need a hotel it's a good alternative.

Check out http://www.hostelbookings.com/ under Dublin City Stay, it has a great price and looks pretty nice. They also have tours involved as an option! But if you want even cheaper or more options, look at http://www.hostelbookers.com/booking/index.cfm (if this doesnt work, just go to the homepage and do the search). You will have about 36 to chose from. (some are hostels, some are hotels). Good luck and have a great time in Dublin! ^^
