Agreed, book early (with Kayak.com) and fly out of a larger airport if possible on a Tuesday or Thursday. Those are the days of the cheapest flights are typically cheapest and avoid going on a holiday weekend.

In january and february the flights are very cheap.

Just book really early, and make sure you compare all the prices. Do you have AirMiles? If you have enough AirMiles, you usually pay less than half the original price of the ticket.
