Hey,
I hope this can be helpful for those interested in joining GGG. From my own personal experience yes they ask for many swimwear photos (actually they're always asking for photos especially when your wanting to join a resort, transfer or doing another contract). They keep a profile of everything you have ever sent for the public management of the resorts to see. These resorts range mostly in Mexico alongside the coast, sometimes there are other resorts in other countries I just can't remember the country. My advice when being hired through GGG is being persistent with your contact with them for e.g. your interested in being hired, the resort your at isn't what you expected or you have had a change of mind or you want a transfer or continue with 2nd contract). GGG will help you as long as you keep them informed of your intentions and what not.
My main reason for this blog is the resort "Gran Festivall" previously known as "Club Maeva". Through my experience along with other team members who were also international like me we found that the communication with the resort and the management a huge breakdown. For e.g.: some people were picked up from the airport and some were waiting therefore made their own transportation to the resort. On that day i begun working. I was working 8a.m. until 1p.m. (hosting sporting activities) everyone schedule was different mostly went week by week. Then at 1p.m. we had lunch until 2p.m. or sometimes 3p.m. depending on the day due to what event was happening that night. From either 2p.m. or 3p.m. until 5p.m. we would have a general rehearsal in preparation for the show that night. Some people had another activity to host at 4p.m. or 5p.m. If you had sport activity at 5p.m. you must stay with the guests until 7p.m. or stay in that area even if there is no one. then at 5p.m. we would have a break until 7 p.m. (if you had no sport activity) or you would come down at 9p.m. for the show that night. Show runs until 1030p.m. then you get another dinner break before going to Palapa (family disco) at 11p.m. (you generally go 3-4 nights a week) We would then host a "fun" game that night. Depending on the game you could be there until 1230am. That's the whole day.
Your paid $5000 Mexican Pesos "BEFORE TAX". You pay for laundry and any other personal items you would like. Mind you if you buy it from the resort you get half price (which is still more expensive then the shops).
That is our daily routine. When i arrived I just got told bits and pieces from different people i found it to be very unorganised. I have a diploma of Business Management and the manager as well as the Department "chiefs" (as they call it), there was no set routine and we get told things that they would contradict themselves. They treat you with disrespect in such a way that they dont appreciate it when you do something well they're too busy criticising everything which are very insignificant. They have very high expectations from you and you work very long hours, out in the sun all day, sweating all day, and your very tired from the lack of sleep. I am aware that the resort is in Mexico hence spanish is the language. Whenever we have meetings it would be in spanish and english but unfortunately for me i found out the hard way i turned up late to meeting at 845am that i was not aware of and turns out only the mexicans new and not us internationals english speaking knew about it and so i found myself in trouble and warned.
Everything is half-assed really, for the money we were paid and the high expectations and long working days, I was not happy there at all. I went to that resort for an experience to enjoy myself and work at the same time instead i felt like a slave animal that they could not care less for. If you injured yourself or were sick its a tragedy and its your fault and were hesitant to give you the rest you needed. If you need rest they would give you the talk about do your really want to be here is this the job for you because we cant have people being sick or injured. An injury or a sickness could be something that needs rest for a few days or you need to ice the area for a few days. A broken bone or several damaged tissue i can understand where they're coming from.
When i was at this resort i was with a whole new team and management and resort (name change), there were a couple people who worked there with the previous manager and they say it was different it was better. there was organisation and structure everyone knew what they were doing. Things were done in such a military style way punishments were given for being late or for sitting down whilst monitoring the sports activities. That maybe so i just cant comprehend that for the pay and the experience. (keeping in mind) that you paid for your own way to get there in the first place. I came from Sydney, Australia and its alot of money and time difference, different country, different people, different environment.
If you have any more questions or comments don't hesitate.
