Terrific, I can't say anymore!!! I stayed in Dhuni Kolhu, a small island completely delicious. Snorkelling, diving, swimming and sun bathing werew the best of my life. If you can afford it stay in an overwater bungalow. We could see baby sharks from our sundeck in the bungalow. Be aware of top less, nudism or homosexuality, all of them are crimes in Maldives. Anyway is you stay in your bungalow no-one will tell you a single word about it. Another point is Ramadan, all the huge kindness of waiters can disappear during Ramadan. Anyway, believe me: MALDIVES IS PARADISE!!! You will have the time of your live over there!!! Enjoy your trip!!!

I stayed on the Meeru Island last year as a quest of a friend who was the corporate booking manageress of the island. I had a superb time it is a beautiful part of the world. All the Islands as you might expect cater for all kinds of water based activities from sailing to learning how to scuba dive (PADI certificate) On Meeru There was also a luxury Asian health spa, tennis & gymnasium etc. There was also 5 restaurants with different themes including the superb Asian Wok and a luxury yacht anchored in the bay which specialises in grilled dishes.
There was an organised event each evening including live bands & crab racing! The Meeru island is only a mile long and around 500 meters wide and 1.5 meters above the sea, i was told this island is quiet big compared to others? They Tightly control how many people are on the island so there was plenty of space for people to be totally alone on the beach or you can socialise with a cocktail at one of the bars. I stayed in a basic chalet as a guest however the honeymoon suits on stilts located over the water looked amazing. Some require a 2 min boat trip to reach! There was also jacuzzi bungalows located about 20 meters from the beach. There was no cash taken on the island(only for tipping the staff at the end of your stay) and all bills were in American Dollars that you had to pay with a credit card at the end of your stay. My friend told me the Island is classed as 4 star however other islands can be 5 star. The weather was a humid hot rather than a dry hot and it did rain for two days, so i would advise you check out when the rainy season starts. A couple of activites i regreat not doing were visiting the main capital island of the Maldives and taking the flying boat plane to take arial photos of the islands. I has a great time, Although i probably drank too many cocktails, lol.

I was in December 2007 at the island Meerufushi/Maldives. It is a very beautiful island, where you can snorkeling and diving. They have got 3 restaurants there and the new Wather-bungalows are very, very nice.
best regards Ute

I returned from the Maldives 2 weeks ago. Spent time on a resort and also on a "safari" boat. The boat was, by far, more exciting and enjoyable for me.
If you only want total relxation and isolation with spas, meals, fancy beds, etc then skip a boat option and pick a remote resort.
If you want somethign different...NOT touristy, and want to visit some actual village islands and explore areas where there are no resorts...just uninhabited islands, then take a maldives boat tour.
The capital island and city Male is worth a day or two, as it has some nice places to eat and you can walk around in a day.
It is a shame that almsot everyone who visits the Maldives does not experience any local culture or learn of the interesting history here.
It is amuslim nation so it is illegal to bring in any alcohol at all. Have fun whatever you decide to do!
