Cuban bar (Cuba Cafe, in rear of Dome church, Dome square, Old town) at it wrealy worth checking, specialy on Th, Fr, Sat. In summer there are lots of cool parties at "Andrejsala" (independant thinking people place), in summer also go to the seashore. Nice beaches. Don't get fooled by some local women, avoid strip clubs, see club safty guide. Enjoy some other cities (Liepaja, excelent)!

The old town of Riga is stunning. If you want to venture out of the capital, however, Jurmala is a cute resort area from days of yore and Sigulda is a nice area for hiking and viewing an 800 year old castle

It is pretty, cause my Home Town :)). Really would recommend 2U have a trip through 3 Baltic States Capitals-Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius. Cities are totally different, culturally and architecture too. You may spend 1-2 days in each, and transportation in between is really by good bus (see http://www.eurolines.ee/en for tickets booking). If you travel November-March, take a scarf with, sometimes may be really windy...

I have just been there and it really is a beautiful city. just to walk around the old town an the parks there is very nice. as well as all the art deco buildings. depends on the weather of course.

we have been there for a day in February 2009 and we did not like it so much. The fresh market whas nice and people speak English and are friendly. Tourist information is in Riga Airport. It gets verry cold in winter and snow all over
