I can recommend Villa Verde or (if a woman and want to stay really central) the Kalahari Sands Hotel. That latter is the best hotel in Windhoek and very central. Villa Verde is cosier, though. Was in Namibia in May and was so taken in by it that I'll be there again in September or November. Enjoy it!

I recommend Hotel Uhland at Uhland Street. Very good breakfast and just a 10 minute walk to the city center. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

Kalahari Sands is the most central and good enough, if renovations are finished already. Windhoek country club - no as central but very nice, with golf course. Thule hotel is a good mid range choice. Villa verde on the budget side is good, with lovely breakfast spot. Arebush is also nice if you're looking for a self-catering place to stay. Not very central though

I can recommend the chameleon backpackers lodge just on the outskirts of the city centre. It's quite cheap and has tv, bar, swimming pool, internet access, tours can be arranged (e.g. etosha), telephone, kitchen facilities to make your own food and the rooms are suprisingly well furnished and good quality for the low cost. Check out the website below. I'm quite picky in terms of quality, and I liked it so it can't be bad! http://www.chameleonbackpackers.com/chameleon_backpackers.asp

If your wallet is not bulging, I happily recommend The Cardboard Box. Windhoek's oldest and most popular backpackers accommodation, offers accommodation in dormitories and private rooms. Hot showers, laundry, tours desk, internet, swimming pool, bar and kitchen. Easy to get to and great location. Have fun! 15 Johann Albrecht St, Windhoek West, Windhoek
