hands down, sim's cozy no matter what time your train arrives, as long as you let them know they will pick you up. food is good, staff are helpful and friendly with a lot of info!! also rooms are very nice!

I'm staying at the Southwestern University of Finance (xi-nan-cai-da). Don't worry if you are not a student; there is a really cheap hotel on campus called Zhu You Yuan Hotel. They offer a free breakfast buffet in the morning and internet access. The disadvantage is that you have to take a taxi to get to the city center, but you get all the advantages of living on campus (food is cheap, and there are places to eat/shop nearby). If you do decide to stay there, ask for a map at the front desk. I can't tell you how helpful that has been for navigating not only the city but for finding shopping centers (such as Carrford or Metro) near campus.

Best places to stay in Chengdu the Loft hostel and the Sim. ireally avoid going to the mix the staff there is antipatic,service there is slow,coffe took us 1 hr to get,and i shell not start tallking about the showers.Sim and Loft i heard great things and the prices the take for the panda is good

Hit to jiu Zai Gou....Stunning view there...Crystal water all over the lake..Don't miss it...Love that place much...They said winter at Jiu Zai Gou just like fairyland...You better belief that... :"))

The Loft Hostel! Definitely the best we found in China. Very cool decor, patio and good restaurant as well as friendly, helpful staff. Booked on hostelworld.com in advance and were picked up at the train station. The Panda Research Centre was the highlight.

paul`s oasis is a must see- guesthouse, hope its still there!! very nice atmosphere and cool people

Mixx hostel. Fab food, about 3 yuan a night, cheap beer and fun people, they let you draw on the walls. There's generally a guy from mixx and a guy from sam's standing outside the train station trying to bring you to they're hostel. To sight see, check out the tibetian quarter, the panda reserve. it has a pretty good nightlife too. the guys in mixx will tell you where to find good clubs, they just brought us out to them!! :) happy travelling.

Jinli Street, Wuhou Temple,Tianfu Square, Jinsha Museum are my favorites and actually there are far more places of interest!!!

Sam Guest House-it's something like hostel... but it is hotel... and still 3# per night(sometimes less), free internet, pick up from train and etc. and sometimes free meals, there is also great garden with tee and... big spiders:). U could find this place - in hostlesclub.com This hostel is in centrum... whetever is centrum in this city... but taxi is still realy chip (10 yuan per sometimes 1 hour trip...yes... I want see zoo, taxi driver city:P)... and Leshan:) but this is another story:)
