Yes, because in the coast side it's summer, but in the mountains it's rain season, so it might be a little problem, but to do an economic trip it's ok, because the hostels are cheaper in that period!! During my exchange I got to travel 2 weeks and we went in Februari and still it was great!!

it's nice weather at the coast in jan/feb because it's summer, but it's rain season in the highlands, so i'd recommend you go in the winter, because then the chances are veeeery slim that it rains...if you want to avoid the huge stream of tourist go around june to august...

Jan/Feb is still rainy. Travelling in bits of Peru North or Lima was not possible for me only two weeks ago (end April) as some of the dirts roads aren´t great. Although it hasn´t rained since I got north of Huaraz. The roads off the Pan American Highway are horrendous, so if you´re going off the beaten track it might be diffifult mid-rainy season.

Actually, I think it's too rainy. Go October or November, that's better.

JANUARY IS JUST GREAT. THE ANDES ARE GREEN AND LUSH AND MISTY. THE MIST AND CLOUDS ARE BEAUTIFUL. IT CAN RAIN, BUT THE TEMP IS COOL ENOUGH TO HIKE IN UNDER A RAIN PONCHO. CLOUD COVER IS GOOD TO SAVE YOU FROM THE SUN. YOU WILL LOVE PERU. I WANT TO GO BACK.

Jan/Feb is a great time to visit Peru...but the famous Inca Trail hiek si closed every February to get cleaned up, so if you want to hike to Machu Pichu in february you need to take a different trail (or go in Janaury).

We went in July and the weather was perfect. It got cold in the evenings, but it never rained. I don't know for sure what the weather is in Jan/Feb. but it would be summer so it would be warmer, but check precipitation. You will love Peru!!
