If I ever thought I was going to need a gun in a place I just wouldn't go there. Safer for you, safer for the locals who may have to come in contact with you.

I lived in Managua for two years from 2005-2007, and I honestly saw no need for a pistol at all. I mean, you probably could (if you can get it through security at the airports), but I don't think you would need it. The people are generally nice. If you wanna bring anything to make your experience safer, bring Off. You can definitely get malaria there and I knew people who got it.

Managua is the safest capital in CA, so can't see why you would need one, as long as you use some common sense.

Seems a little risky to me to travel with a gun. I'd leave it at home! Like David said - stick to populated areas and you should be safe.

Even if you can, I'd rather not. Managua may be dodgy but as long as you stick to the populated and inner city parts and sights you shouldn't have any issues. Leon and Granada are fantastic and no guns needed.

Guns are everywhere in Nicaragua, but as a traveller you will likely not be able to. If I recall you need to be a resident living in Nicaragua in order to have guns there. Look up "law 510" which covers this I think. I could be wrong and things may have changed. There are plenty of gun shops in Nicaragua too, so if you CAN bring one in, I imagine you can buy one there too.

I don't know, but if I use my common sense, I guess not. Especially when you do boarder crossings or travel with an airplane. They search trough your stuff.. I wouldn't take the risk to be caught..
