My brother and his family just came back from 3 weeks there - June 18 to July 10. Very sweltering hot! Especially the last week they spent 5 days in Beijing, in which one of the days got to 39 degrees C. When I was there in Dec. 1998, it was more mild!

Autumn - October or November is the best, no rain, cool, and comfortable. The sky is clear blue. You will like the season. Spring is too humid and wet, summer is too hot and wet, and winter is too dull.

Typhoon season starts in July and July/August can be very hot and humid. Recommend November-December and March-May. Still any time is a ok time, as typhoons rarely hit and even if it is close by it is only very windy for a day or so.

December is a good time to go. The weather is nice (not that cold, not that hot) and there are a lot to see and to go to during that time. ;)

I was there in January and found the climate quite nice. Not too hot, not cold. Days were warm and sunny, nights were cool.

I went at the end of July last year. Although it was quite hot and humid, I got used to it after a few days. If you're going for the shopping, better not to go during any of the public holidays, since huge crowds of visitors from the mainland will be swarming in like bees.

It really depends on what you'd like to do while there. Anytime just before and during Chinese New Year will be super busy and expensive - but it'll be a New Year like nowhere else. The weeks right after the New Year offer pretty good deals on most hotels and airfare. Summer (ie: July/August) is probably *not* a good time to go, as it is frightfully hot, humid and not very comfy.

I am a Native HK people. Actually the best time for visiting Hong Kong are from October to December because the weather suits everyone. You can enjoy the fabulous firework shows upon Victoria Harbour without getting wet and hot. The fireworks are on New Year's Eve, 1st Oct and the 2nd day of Lunar New Year each year. (But I'm sure the flight and accomodation fees are expensive on December and Chinese New Year)
