Bolivia is fantastic!!! I was there last january and had a really good time, loved every minute there. I totally agree with Marjolijn, don't miss the salar, there are many tours that last between 2 to 4 days, if you are lucky, you might get it very cheap, I can't remember the name of the agency, but there's one that's run by some tourist guides that used to work for the big agencies and opened theirs, it's cheaper and they are really nice. One more thing, if you go to Potosí, you should spend at least a day in Ojo del Inca, which is a natural thermal lake in the middle of the mountains, 40' from the city. It's absolutely amazing!!! You can spend the night for 20 bolivianos, which is sth like 2 euros. Oh! A word on public transportation, there are no schedules, at all, they will tell you a departure time, but buses leave once they get full... so don't be surprised if you have to wait more than an hour. Hope you have a great time there!

I agree with Marjolijn and Claudine - Lago Titicaca and the salares de Uyuni + I would also definitely include a trip to the Pampas from Rurrenabaque - you can continue from Coroico by bus if you do the mountainbike trip there, or you can fly from La paz in a mini plane. Alligators, river dolphins, monkeys, anacondas, piranhas - great place to see wildlife!

Go visit the islands on Lake Titicaca, the light, and especially the sunset is amazing! And there are good restaurants that serve fish in Copacabana.

Wow! What to say? You traveld to India and Vietnam, so you should know already: Do not drink water. Do not take ice. Do not eat vegetables if not cooked. Take with you terapy for malaria and diarrhea. Take with you mosquitos repellent. Protect yourself from the sun. (Cream, cap and sunglasses) Use good shoes, no sandals. If you go to the Amazonas, you already took the vaccination against yellow fever. Euros are better than US dollars. A bad spoken Spanish is better than a good English. They charge you when using the credit card. Enjoy and take good pictures! It's a beautiful travel! They are wonderful people! I reccomend to you Amazonas. A cruise on Mamorè River. It's hot, it's sticky, there are mosquitos, but it's amazing and absolutely unforgettable! I saw a colibrì and I fished piranhas!

It's a touristy thing to do but do the biketour from la Paz to Coroico it's fantastic. Another touristy thing to do is a tour of the salt lake of Uyuni. There is one touroffice that offers you a night in the salt hotel, very basic, no electricity and beds made of salt but it is magic to see the sun go under there. If you got the money and the time to spare book the large tour so you can have breakfast in a thermal pond at high altitude. Beware of altitude sickness, most people have some discomfort but some actually get really sick. Don't rise to fast and if you feel sick go down a few hunderd meters. And don't overdo it in the first few days your body will adapt if you give it some time. I'm actually jalous, Bolivia is one of the interesting places I've ever been.

It is colder than you think everywhere because of the altitude (except the jungle of course) so dress warmly. Take your sleeping bag or a blanket with you on buses and never let your belongings out of your sight. Definitely have a salteña!! They are more awesome than Argentinian empanadas. Make sure you have enough cash on you when going to small towns in case you have problems with the ATMs like I did. http://haveitch.blogspot.com/search/label/Bolivia Have a great time!

Try to go to Rurrenabaque to the Pampas tour or to Chalalan, it is a fantastic experience. Don't miss Coroico and if you can do the Inca Trail. It would be great to see the Carnaval in Oruro, that it is just amazing but I guess you won't make it.Good luck, Bolivia it is just wonderful to see. Couple of things more, be prepared for civil demonstrations at any time in La Paz. It could also be an interesting experience but you have to be careful and see it just from the distance. And please eat a salteña, not in the streets but in a Café or restaurant. You will love it!!. I do not know about your interest but to go and visit the Parliament could be also interesting, you will see the diversity of Bolivia represented. Cheers and have a safe trip

what everyone else said was pretty much spot on. If you have the time, a 4X4 trip south of Salar de Uyuni is worth it but tough going and Sucre is definately the best city for a night out especially if you find the joyrider pub, top floor is bangin.
