This hostel is run by a Norwegian. I was there a few years ago, and she was very helpful. She has 3 hostels in El Salvador. I was at the one on San Salvador and The on at the coast where you can go and see tutles :) She can probably also get you a good, reliable tour guide :)

A pupusa is is masa, that is stuffed with cheese and or meat and patted flat like a corn tortilla then cooked. Very good. Not sure on the tour guide, we went without one.

I really don't know about tour guide but I can tell you if you go to El Salvador, you can not go without eating Pupusas. I'm from Panamá and I will like to have Pupusas in there. Well Pupusas are made corn tortillas filled mostly with cheese and chicharron and beans.
Enjoy your trip.
