    It is an amazing place, very beautiful with the Tien Shan (heavenly) mountains, and lakes like Issyk Kul and Song Kul. The people were nomadic living in yurts until 1930 (Stalin collectivised the "farms"), but you can still meet people living in yurts (even if only on the summer). The people are wonderfully friendly. You may get invited for kymys (fermented horse's milk) or (post Soviet) vodka. Apart from the scenery there is horse riding and trekking to do. August 31 Independence day get to the hippodrome at Bishkek and see amazing horse riding skills, picking up a coin from the gallop, archery while galloping, maybe buzkashi (goat grabbing - like in Afghanistan, a sort of horseback rugby match!

    yeah, i've been there several times. Issik Kul is absolutely amazing place to be.

    Of course, i like it very much! There is a beautiful Lake Named Issyk-Kul'.
