I was just there a few days ago. It's the 2nd largest city in Germany. Theres lots of bars/clubs in the red light district. there's tons of churches. one of them was destroyed in ww2 and is 3/4th destoryed still. there's the rathaus (the parliment building) and there's a church that is 400ft up. not to mention plenty of shopping

there's a place called brauhaus at the innenalster (the alster is one of the Hamburg rivers). Good and affordable food in a great atmosphere. If you're a beatles fan, you might consider having a good at the "kaiserskeller" in the skt Pauli distrikt. There's a plate commemorating the early beatles performances. be prepared for rain, it's a rainy wet city. if you're into music, try and have a look at the Steinway store. Yes, they are made here and in New York

Even if you were allready there I recommend the Speicherstadt, the Dungeon Museum (I am not sure if you need to understand German for this, maybe they have english tours?), visit the redlight destrict and stroll at the harbour.

if you are there at the weekend the fish market has live music, and im told it has a really nice atmosphere, otherwise if you do a bus tour you can see ost of the big touristy things!

To get a great over view and impression of the city I highly recommend a sight-seeig tour of the city on one of the London-style doubledecker busses paired with a harbor cruise that includes a tour of the Speicherstadt. Be sure to choose one of the smaller boats "Barkasse" in order to be able to get into the "Fleets". These tours are "hop on/hop off" and you can spend more time in places that interest you. I highly recommend the Krameramtsstuben and taking the stairs up to the top of the "Michel". Try one of the many markets around the downtown areas for delicious fresh food.

I loved to cruise around "Speicherstadt". And there was a beach bar next to Reeperbahn, but it's probably not the right season now :-)

Hamburg is perfect combination of the canals like in Venice and streets like in any other metropolis. Everything is thoughtfully arranged, old architecture with new - urban style. Hafen city with new project of philharmonics is the most popular part of the city. Nearby is the port whit it's beautiful view. They are working at the new UBahn line now, so when you look at that traffic map, you should know where are you planing to go and how big that city is. I came back three days ago and still under the impression. Definitely my recommendation!!!!

Hey, basically everything. The architecture is cool, it doesn't matter if you are visiting Landungsbrücken, Wilhelmsburg, Eppendorf or Blankenese. Check out Hamburger Berg (also on weekdays) and the Kiez (Reeperbahn). Visit a bunker, they are amazing testaments to humankind's foolishness...

When you`re on "Mönckebergstraße" - one of the main shopping streets you definitely have to go into the "Levantehaus" - it`s so cute and beautiful with its small shops and everything. It is made to look oldfashioned, so it has a great athmosphere too. You can reach it at the entrance to the Hyatt-Hotel and you will absolutely love it. And don`t forget looking up at the entrance to the Hyatt - there is a beautiful cupula with couloured glass at the ceiling.
