I went to South Africa a few years ago. I flew to Cape Town. It's a fantastic city with awesome views of Table Mountain. I enjoyed visiting the wine region, especially Franschoek. Driving along the coast is just delightful, with endless magnificent views. Climbing Table Mountain was a highlight. Penguins at Boulders Beach were great too. De Hoop Nature Reserve had great wildlife and beautiful beaches backed by enormous impressive sand dunes. Oudsthoorn was great, with ostrich farms where you can ride on an ostrich!, amazing caves and good wildlife park, where I got to stroke a cheetah! It's a really beautiful country. I was lucky to be staying with a friend who showed me around, so it felt really safe. I did hear gun shots a few times though and was told by my friends many times to lock the windows and doors while driving through dodgy areas. So make sure you know where to go and where not to go.

Was just there this past February. Along with Australia, it is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Be sure to go to Coffee Bay.

I've been 24 times and more to come. Working as a rep for the destination in many different companies and traveling around by all different kind of accommodations (from high end to backpacking). Is for sure one of the best destinations in the world!

Yes my family and I visited Cape Town and Johannesburg at the end of '08 and it was an amazing trip! While in Cape Town, we drove to the wonderful quaint town of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. I particularly fell in love with Franschhoek as it was so peaceful there! When we were heading back to Cape Town, we decided to take the coastal road instead, so we made a stop at Hermanus to admire the beautiful view of the South Atlantic Ocean and to grab a nice quick seafood lunch by the bay. All in all, a drive out of the city of Cape Town is a must if you really want to appreciate the natural beauty of the Cape Province.

I live in South Africa. Here are a couple of jewels that some people might miss. Pilansberg Nature reserve, smaller than Kruger park, but much better in my opinion. Another bonus, Sun City and Lost City is right next to it. Gold Reef City, most people know of it, but they have gold mine tours, you get to go underground, and it isn't so unbelievably crowded as some of the theme parks oversees. Blyde River Canyon is the third biggest canyon in the world, the biggest green canyon in the world. The area there is also awesome. Cape Town truly is awesome!!!Don't miss. And the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg.

Depending where you are from , you can fly straight to Cape Town International airport.Popularly called the mother city, you will enjoy visiting the waterfront and the sea point. A trip to Table Mountain and Robben Island should not be missed. Take a drive along the garden route as well thruogh George , Port Elizabeth to East London. Enjoy the beach life and the stop overs in natural reserves.

South Africa is amazing and worth the flight. Kruger is a must, check out Tinga private game reserve. Cape town is beautiful and is a 2 1/2 flight from Kruger. The bay hotel is in the best location if you want to be by the beach

I live in SA - and most of what these guys have said is true - but if your planning to come, Cape Town and the surrounding areas are a must. The game reserves and the african spas are lovely. I'm from Durban - its lovely here, but personally, Cape Town beats it - its classy, safe and beautiful. As for Johannesburg, there isn't much to see there. If you like you can drive from Durban down to Cape Town through the Garden Route- you don't even need guides, its quite simple to get around and explore - theres a number of parks you can stop by - lion parks, rhino parks etc- there is one here they allow you to play with the lion cubs! Enjoy your trip :)

Yes, I spent time in Capetown and also in Jo'Burg, Pretoria and Durban. Aside from all the usual stuff in Cape Town (Table Mountain, wine regions etc.) I found a trip to the townships incredibly interesting. Cape Point is also well worth a visit. The coastal area around Durban is lovely for a relaxing beach break. A visit to the sharks board is quite fun - you get to see a shark dissection which is pretty educational. If you want to go on safari and are flying into Jo'Burg then Pilannesberg is an easy drive away. It's not as famous as Kruger but is fantastic. I saw several rhino (including endangered black rhinos), huge herds of elephants, a couple of lions, hippos, wildebeest and even a leopard. I'd highly recommend it!

Yes I've been to South Africa, mostly Johannesburg though. (Which doesn't totally deserve it's reputation for being unsafe). Cape Town and The Wild Coast and Kruger would be a few must visits. If you're planning to go on safari (??) then Kruger is a must. South Africa has much more to offer than safarai's though...

I was there about 10 years ago, but haven't made it back since. I loved the country. I was in Swaziland for the summer and then spent about a month cruising around S. Africa. My favorite parts were the small coastal towns away from the big cities.
