This is the most funny town in Ukraine! Because of special style of humour of local people. Very romantic also and interesting historical town. Was loved by all Russian kings and always was like pearl under the sea. Also this is port town.

It's my home city, was born there and recommend it with all my heart! You wont be sorry, if you visited. It has nice architecture, not too old not to modern, green coast line, pretty parks. In some places (in the center - downtown area) it could be a bit noisy but it can be handled. Great House of Ballet and Opera. You can try to rent apartment instead of Hotel room, it might be much cheaper and it has all that hotel has, hot water, i-net, tv, kitchen, bath and etc. Prices depend on season you travel. Visit - Privoz - very cool, noisy and interesting place - it's a market place - authentic to Odessa, no where else you find such place. But be careful, watch your pockets there. Prices are reasonable. Good Luck to you!! Last time I was there in October 2010.

I have been in Odessa many times, and my relitives that still live in Ukraine travel a lot to Odessa. Its a beautiful city. My fav is during the summer walking on the beach...

I live there. In summer it's pretty crowded, but the people are beautiful in general.

You don't need visa any more since 2004 for the US and EU citizens if you stay up to 90 days :-) Since 1998 it has changed a lot, you will not recognize some places and it's even more wonderful. I've wanted to for years, so it's on the list, coming up hopefully in fall of 2009. They've relaxed the cost of visas to nothing for travelers from the US, so it's even more inviting.
