The quality of the sunset depends on the person next to you :-) At 9pm it is usually dark. Temperatures are usually well below 30°C. However the sea is warm enough.

Don't wait too long. I was once in Odessa on October 30th, it was freezing minus 8 at night and the hotel's central heating was switched on only from November 1st onwards!

It's not that hot in September any more - anyway it wasn't boiling hot for me. Try to get to Bkhchisaray - it's a very nice city in the center Crimea, a former capital of Crimean Khanate. It's very eastern, great local food. Nearby is a mountain fortress of Cufut Qale - "Jewish Fortress" - really worth seeing it!

I spent time in Sevastopol in September. It is the best time to get there I guess, although there were some short heavy rain showers.
Yalta is nice. However, I didn't like the beaches - no sand, just shingle beaches.
Beware that hardly anybody speaks foreign languages. The preferred language is Russian, not Ukrainian.
