Bocas del Toro Province Questions

Help with Panama City to Bocas Del Toro by bus. Do I go directly to Almirante & take a boat to Bocas or to David and then a bus to Almirante & Boat 2 Bocas? Does it matter what time of day I leave? I heard Almirante was not a place to be at night. How long is the trip? How much is the bus/ferry? Any advice I have not thought to ask? Thank you.

Yeah, don't plan to stay in Almirante at night, just take the boat as fast as possible and in Bocas head straight to the main street and stay in the hostel. Take a boat tour out to the islands in the daytime. I went from Puerto Viejo in CR, a great place to check out, sorry I can't offer help with the bus situation. But DEFINITELY don't be in Almirante at night, it's a bit scary...
