Hotel Flor Rivoli was good enough for its central location! Very very close to the Louvre and there is also a metro station around the corner!

I stayed at the Plug-Inn Hostel in Montmartre, right around the corner from the Moulin Rouge, Sacre Coeur and Amelie's Cafe (Cafe des Deux Moulins). Very close to Blanche and Abbesses metro stations. I stayed in a 4person share room that had its own private bathroom, free wifi and breakfast was included and I think I paid around 30Euros per night.

We stayed at the St. Christopher's in Paris. It's in a fabulous location, about two blocks away from the metro and it was great. the rooms were clean, the food was ok (though a bit expensive), the bar and hang out room downstairs were great places to meet fellow travelers.

Absolute Paris Hotel/ Hostel has ensuite dorm rooms for $25-$35 per night depending on the time of year. It's located really close to the metro station in Place de la Republique and on the same street as a laundromat and grocery store. Down the street from a really delicious patisserie!

Best Western Hotel Eiffel Cambronne. In the 15th, but nice and clean place. Close to a few nice bars, and a 3 min walk from metro Cambronne.

L'hotel de Lille, on Rue du Pelican, right off Rue Croix des Petits Champs--just across the street and around the corner from the Louvre. You can't get much better than than for location, plus the lady that runs it impressed us deeply with her willingness to go out of her way for us when we were there. I

If you're staying for a longer period of time - check out any one of the "Citadines" hotels -- the rooms are more like studio apartments - full with kitchens, balcony, etc. They have locations all over the city. The last one I stayed in was in the Bastille area and it was great.

I've stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Place d'Italie, it was really good, next to the metro station, and also in the Campanile, but that one was far from the city centre.

You may wish to search on accomodation in Latin Quarters. The one I stayed at was a decent sized, and clean hotel room. The best part is that the area is within walking distance to all the major attractions :)
