Costa Rica is a nice destination. If you want something really different (although not exactly central america) try Galapagos

Little Corn Island in Nicaragua. Lots of budget options, but also Iguana Lodge and Little Corn Beach and Bungalows for more upscale (but still small and funky).

San Blas Islands, Panama. You can have an island all by your self! I did it! It is so beautiful! Crystal clear water, white beaches and coconuts. I went to a new island every day. The guy we stayed with drove us the in the morning, left some food and drinks, and picked us up in the evening :) What could be more perfect than that? ;) http://panamatravelunlimited.com/page/panama-hotels/san-blas-hotels/?gclid=CJ-n2Ii12qsCFYK-zAodNTa3Ng

If you want a postcard beach but without hoards or Tourists, go to West Bay, Roatan, Honduras. Just look at the pictures. I've been there it's phenomenal

Corn Islands in Nicaragua. Exotic, cheap, beaches OK but unspoilt, no screaming children. Although facilities might not be what you'd expect in other countries with more developed resorts. You might also want to look at San Andres Isla, colombian territory but much closer to nicaragua than colombia, accessible via san jose costa rica or panama city.

Honduras. Roatan is great for the beaches. You can get the whole variety from backpackers to cruise ships (stay away) and nice resorts. There is also amazing diving and snorkeling. On the mainland you can go to Copan Ruinas to see the Mayan ruins or head east along the coast and go rough it in the jungle. In la ceiba (the port city for the ferries out to the islands) you can book a lot of adventure type day trips or what not. They have a lot of green/eco lodges, white water rafting, hiking and more. That or combo Guatemala and Belize. Do a few days in Guatamala, mainly going to Tikal (AMAZING!). You you like roughing it, you can camp right outside the site. Stay an hour away in Flores or for a bit of cash (not too much though) stay in one of the two decent hotel options right there. Then head into Belize and pick one of the many cayes and have a few days on the beach.

One of the most affordable and cost effective honeymoons all over the world is a cruise. My husband and I just got back from a 4 night 5 day cruise that cost us just over a thousand dollars. This cost covers all fees and taxes and also covers all food as well. The only thing this does not cover is alcohol.

Panama was awesome! There are tour guides to take you over the countryside and visiting the Panama Canal is worth the trip. Plus there's tons of local art work to purchase.

To me, Costa Rica is pretty cookei cutter..and also more expensive than most of Central. If you want beaches and relaxation look at the Corn Islands (nicaragua) or maybe Bocas del Toro, Panama. Belize (Ambergris Caye) can be ok but too popular IMO. The Bay islands off the coast of Honduras are great too. Now if you wnat a more city type experience...Antigua, Guatemala is pretty easy to hang out in and has volcanoes and fun stuff to do. LOTS of options...but check those places out.
