How can I get from Auckland to Whangarei, besides car?

Best way by bus. ou can buy your tickets at the information center of the Sky Tower. The buses depart from there

If you like taking the train,try the North Auckland Line,that will get you to Whangerai.

book with http://nakedbus.com/ it's extremly cheap if you book early enough (if you are lucky only 1$!!).

I went by bus with a company called Intercity. I got a coach pass and did a loop around picturesque Northland. Whilst in Whangarei I suggest the area around Brean Head is really scenic.

Air New Zealand does direct flights from AKL to Whangarei, though it's probably not terribly cheap. Best bet is to bus - you get to see soem awesome countryside along the way. www.airenewzealand.co.nz

don't know exactly where whagerai is, but you can get anywhere by public bus
