re: taxi's in Manilla - don't go to the taxi's in departures - instead, work your way up into arrivals and get a cab there. Make sure that you go on the meter.. if they say the meter is broken, get in another cab (there are loads) - Getting a taxi in the arrivals area can bring down the cost of taxi's by 2/3rds easy! Hope this helps! :)

I always try to get where I am staying to come and pick me up. They usually do, and it's no more or less than a taxi. The construction and traffic are insane in Metro Manila. You should ask them (hotel?) to assist you with this.

Thanks guys...very very useful. I happened to book a ticket on April 1. Found out later that it is during the Holy Week when there is no public transpo. Is it going to be a problem to find taxi? thx

For overseas visitors your best bet may be to hire a private car or an FX (a van like Taxi,) from "OUTSIDE" the International airport. Be advised that taxi's at the airport are controlled and will charge you way over the odds, even for local trips into the Metro Manila area. Therefore it is advisable to hire an FX or taxi OUTSIDE the airport for you're onward journey by land, including a trip to Tagaytay.
An FX comes with a driver for around US$35, one way, for the entire day, if you're a good haggler. They might ask you to pay for the petrol as well, no more than Php 1,000. So in essence you can have your FX take you to your Tagaytay hotel, check in, then have your driver take you to as many tourist spots you can handle.
Private air conditioned transportation to and return from Tagaytay is approximately Php 5,500. But this includes you're return trip back to Manila after you staying in Tagaytay for one or more nights!
Travel time : 1 to 1 1/2 hours' drive time from Manila, even less from the international airport.
