From my point of few each visit to indonesia no amtter which island u go is always too short in time to see it all

Hey SHanna Ive spent the past 3 weeks in Borneo / Brunei. Decided not to venture over to Kalimantan because of time. From the people I've spoken to, there are a few good isolated camps / jungle lodges in terms of wildlife ventures. But getting around by road isn't quick nor easy. Flying between key cities is really the way to go. Depending how much you want to see I'd have to say a bare minimum of 1 week to explore a basic spot or two, and minimum of 2 weeks to fly around and get a grasp of Kalimantan. More if you plan to use public transit where available. Each province is huge and varied though, for the above times I'm basing it on going to Tanjung Puting NP (Central province), then flying elsewhere to explore east / south Kalimantan and a bunch of rural trekking or something. You'll likely have to fly to Balikpapan..relatively close to shopping, big cities and cultural options. Have fun! I'll visit Kalimantan next time. Dont be surprised by the huge tracts of timber and palm plantations you might see in Kalimantan too!
