Diamond Head is overrated -- hot, dry, and crowded. Where you want to hike is the `Aiea Loop (in `Aiea) or the Manana Trail (in Pacific Palisades). Check out from your library: _The Backpacker's Giude to O`ahu_ by Stuart Ball.

Diamond Head is a must-do, together with all the other tourists ;) I can recommend the shave ice afterwards. If you find a group try the Olomana Peak, it's challenging but very rewarding (if you're not scared of heghts!) Hanauma Bay is great for snorkelling, plenty of tourists but if it's a calm day and you're a comfortable swimmer you can go outside the reef-break and see some amazing stuff away from the crowds. Don't forget to try out surfing in Waikiki!

Diamond Head of course- please do a Luau they are pricey but worth it- you must drive or take a taxi anywhere on the island - the public transportation is awful- and obviously Pearl Harbor
