I agree with everything Melanie said and then some...Tanzania is incredible. Zanzibar was so fantastic I would go back in a heart beat. Seeing zebras and wildebeest returning from migration with babies in tow was an amazing experience - the ngorongoro crater and serengeti are truly worth a visit. I didn't get a chance to climb Kili while I was there, but I definitely will some day. I had some of the most memorable nights in Arusha, and had the opportunity to experience Masai culture first-hand. I have to say that I enjoyed everything about Tanzania, and would recommend it to anyone! (and definitely take malaria meds...there was a malaria "false alarm" with someone we were traveling with, but either way it's a scary thing)

I LOVE Tanzania, it is constantly in my top 5 country list! The people are friendly, the beer is okay, swahili is a cool language and the experience is brilliant. Your question is pretty general so I’ll keep it short and sweet without knowing how long your there and what your interests are but I divide Tanzania into three areas 1. Zanzibar- amazing diving, beaches, Stone Town, 2. Mt Kili- worth climbing if you have the interest/time/money, 3. ngorongoro crater and serengeti national park for amazing safari experiences. My two tips are learn a little Swahili and take malaria medication. You don’t want malaria.

It is an amazing cuntry - the people are fantastic. My tip is to get off the beat and track. Go out in to the villages and small towns away from where westerners go - maybe head to the west or central regions. Also learn the swahili greetings. You'll only need to learn a dozen or so words and you'll break the ice where ever you go. Also dont be put off by long bus journeys - they zip by and are surprisingly comfortable. Have fun.
