la rambla is great walking path that leads from hill to the sea. it is a must see becasuse there are a lot of atractions 24/7 and you can easily find something to smoke. also, there is a great cathedral la sagrada familia from this famous architect gaudi. and there is a gaudi hill. also must see. for this three, you need almost a day and it is completely free. you can use the bus to get around the city. it is not free, but it is cheap.

Hi all,
I do recommend staying in the Gothic because it’s really the heart of what’s happening in the city. Just be aware, and stay clear of the following places: La Rambla, (a.k.a. La Rob-la), the Metro (one of the places I’ve seen the most robberies, averaging one sighting a week), Calle Ferran (filled with drunk tourists) Irish bars (obviously). To play it safe, get a bag with multiple zippers and be alert. Never set your bag on the floor or casually on a chair.
For the most part it is safe to walk the streets of the city center at any time of night, because there are always people out in Barcelona. Violent crime is not a problem. But, you’ve got to watch your bag, your camera, your wallet, your cell phone and maybe even that gold chain around your neck (less someone rip it from your being on the subway!). Small theft is not punished (really) in Spain, and thieves are well aware of this. The problem is HUGE.
Don’t be the guy with the camera hanging on his neck.
I would also like to advice you to visit Sitges, it is famously a 'gay-friendly' resort town 8) , with a number of beaches that cater for gay people to a greater or lesser extent. Most are what would be called 'mixed' beaches, where gay and straight couples hang out together and others are seen as being more exclusively 'gay', where few straight couples go. There are no regulations enforcing these divisions, it is just the way things have evolved over the years. There is a number of nudist beaches in Sitges
a)Playa De Las Balmins is the mixed nudist beach in Sitges.
b)There is another gay nudist beach in Sitges at Cala del Home Mort.
c)Clothing is optional at Platja Sant Sebastia and Platja d'Aiguadolc too.

Yeah La Rambla, where u have to watch you wallet? it's just great place to get robbed. It's nothing great, just long patch with many ppl. Go to Montserrat like Jean B. said. To Tibidabo to see The whole Barelona from the top of the hill. Go to the port. See Gaudi park, You can go to the beach to rest.

There are little beach towns you'll love by the sea. Sitges (south), Tossa del Mar and Cadaqués (north). IN Barcelona, don't miss Gaudì's houses in Paseo de Gracia: Battló House, and MIlà House. And loose yourself in the Gothic Quarter. Don't miss the Plaza del PI.

If you like champagne, you can go cava tasting just a 40 minute train ride outside of Barcelona. You can book a free tour at Freixenet.com and call up other local wineries in the small town of Sant Sadurni d'Anoia. They're all within walking distance... just need to plan ahead.
