Dublin Questions

Question asked in : Dublin - 1 year ago

I'm traveling next month and can't decide between Ireland, Rome, and Paris. I love extreme outdoor adventures, historic architectures, art, and fashion. Any suggestions on either place would be most appreciated!

Ireland is green & the beer's great. Paris is expensive & chock full of people. Museums are great, but jam-packed. Cafe society is lively and friendly (if you speak French). ROMA has about the best urban hikes anywhere, the cafes are very lively & friendly to ANYone interesting, and can be found EVERYwhere! The monuments & ancient buildings pop up on every street, sometimes a lion head or giant finger will be built into the most basic house. Crowds range from overwhelming to nonexistant, though the sights generally are interesting everywhere. Easy to get around (bus, subway, or walking) and hotels can be quite inexpensive. Weather will be great! What else can I say?

If you like historic architecture and art, Rome is great choice! You'll find a lot of old buildings very well preserved, especially if you like sacral architecture. Churches are really amazing. What's more interesting is that in almost every church you can find some master peaces of Renaissance artists. Michelangelo's La Pieta in St.Peter's and Paul's Basilica, his Moses in church San Pietro in Vincoli (St. Peter in Chains), also his paintings on the ceiling of Sistine Chapel in Vatican - must see.

Why don't you go to all 3 places if you have the time . They are so different from each other and will be such a wonderful experience. The distance between them are not great . There are so many low cost airlines offering great prices, sometimes almost free except for the fees and taxes. All the countries you mentioned are part of the EU so there is no hassle of customs going from one country to the other. Do check on the baggage allowance for the airlines as they all differ even the carry ons.

I've been to Rome and Paris and I much preferred Rome. So that would be my pick. There is a lot to see (Vatican, Colusseum, etc) and the food is really tasty. Either Paris or Rome should have a lot less tourists now than in summer.

For art, architecture and fashion : Paris and Rome. They are gorgeous cities and they are loads to do. For outdoor acitvities none of them really since they are capital cities. If you don't speak French you will find Parisians cold and rude. The best people are in Dublin and even if it is not a pretty city, it is a good place to party! I am French I lived in Paris but I left it for Dublin 6 years ago : I can't be objective!

go definitely to Ireland! 2 or 3 days the action of the city and the noise combined with the remoteness of Aran Islands , cycle the Ring of Kerry as Luka Bloom suggested, stand op on the top of the Burren! and finish by drinking one or more pints of Guinness!!! you will not be disappointed

Hi, I have visited all the cities mentioned frequently, and from your description of things you love, I would suggest Rome. You'll definitely get all the historical architecture and art you couold want, furthermore, in terms of shopping, I found very little difference between Rome and Paris, they all have pretty much the same stores, so fashion is covered in Rome as well. I don't think any of the 3 places mentioned is known for extreme outdoor adventures, so I can't really advise you on that. Also, Rome to Paris is about 10 hours by train (1 change), so you can probably cover both if you have the time. Hope that helped

I half disagree with Todd Worley. Paris is expensive and crowded, but there will be dramatically fewer tourists there next month compared to the summer season that most people visit during. Also, Dublin is a relatively expensive city as well. I can't comment much on Rome, as I've never been there. Speaking strictly in terms of weather though, I'd say your best best is Rome, then Paris, and Ireland will likely be very wet and dreary, but then again, that's what pubs are for.

All cities are amazing, none of them have special extrem outdoor adventures, historically and archetecture Paris and Rome are much more important and impresive that Dublin, but, food, people, party and weather is much more better in Rome, even there could fine cheaper places to sleep and eat. If you need places to go in Rome, restaurants..., just tell me, maybe i can help you Good luck and enjoy!!!
