There are many good little spots in Innsbruck. Find a family-run restaurant (think hole-in-the-wall). Order a cream soup for a wonderful surprise.

In the old part of town there's the Hofgarten that is quite good. It is also good to go for a drink there in the evening. But if you have a car there are a lot of small nearby villages such as Absam where ther are a lot of really good restaurants. One of my favorite in Absam is "Purner" but it has raised it's prices considerably lately. It is still very good, but watch out, in Austria a lot of placed do not take credit cards.

I think one of the best places for traditional Austrian food is the "Europa Stüberl" near the train station which offers one of the best Wienerschnitzel in town. Unfortunately not very cheap. Another place where you can ear very well are the "Goldener Adler" (rather high prices), "Lamm" (moderate) or the "Tai-Li-Bar" (moderate, Business Lunch adequate).

try "Apfelstrudel" (apple pie w/vanille sauce or vanille icecream)just near the town's very popular building "das goldene Dachl"(the golden roof).
