I stayed in the Comfort Inn Manhattan Bridge Hotel. Cheap as it is in the China town area, but clean and for a fair price. Subway's only two minutes away and takes you to mid-center in ten minutes max!

Le Parker Meridien on 56th Street between Avenue of the Americas and Seventh Avenue. It's a block away in all directions from all major attractions in NYC. Great view of Central Park on the from the rooftop swimming pool.

I stayed in the Big Apple Hostel on 45th Street, like 30 seconds of walk off Times Square. Clean, cheap, has a kitchen, Starbucks across the street. Great location!

I stayed at the Portland Square Hotel which is in times square, the hotel is only so so, one small room with a bathroom and one bed. If you're planning on just staying in one hotel for most of the summer then you may want to find something a little bigger but it's find to stay in for a week or so. The location though is amazing, times square is lit up by all the advertising bulletins at night and it's just gorgeous. Anyways, hope that was helptful

I loved staying at the Super 8 Hotel. It is within walking distance to everything, the room was clean and neat, you are in a safe spot, staff is helpful, and you get a free breakfast. Tack that all together with saving a bit of money on a good hotel and your trip is instantly more fun! I have stayed here twice, once with a friend and once with my mother. Both were great!

I've stayed many places...Novotel, Waldorf, Inter-Continental, W to name a few. Try Kayak.com to check rates and you can have them show you on a map where each hotel they are recommending is located, so you can pick something that both fits your budget and is in the location you want. I've been to NYC so many times that I try now to pick hotels in different neighborhoods so that I can get a feel for other areas of the city. Last summer, went with my daughter and stayed at a boutique hotel called On the Ave on upper west side just 2 blocks from Natural History Museum and Park. It was neat staying in a more neighborhoody area...great, reasonably priced food options. However, if it is a first visit, midtown is where you probably wnat to be. Check out Kayak.com....

we stayed @ the 373 right on 5th avenue 1 block across form the empire state building. It was very cheap then because it was new (only 70dollars a night for a double room!), you might wanna check the prices again.

If you're looking for a luxury stay, I recommend the Sofitel hotel. It's a few blocks from Times Square. But if you're looking to save a few bucks, then stay away hehe.
