Absolutely!!! They love Americans and you can always find someone who speaks English. The only negative I found about the city was EVERYONE smokes. If that doesn't bother you, you'll love it!!

yes- both the Federation and the Serbian entity are very safe. Chances are safer than many places in the West. The nature is amazing, plus Sarajevo and Mostar are very nice cities. I would consider combining other parts of ex-Yu togehter with Bosnia (i.e. Croatia)

Yes. There isn't any problem there, and it is a spendid city where different influences are converging and mixing. The one from the past Austrian-Hungarian empire, the one from the Ottoman empire, the one from Balkanic europa. The thing to take in consideration is the weather. Russia controls the supply in natural gas -> western europe and it happens Gasprom cuts the supply to blackmail western powers. Depriving Balkans of heating. And sarajevo in the winter, my friends, it's cold.

It's perfectly safe. The people are amazing in their welcome and if you open up you will find yourself invited into people's homes for coffee! The only danger might be from unexploded ordinance from the war. If you notice the locals avoiding an area then steer clear and try to not wander off into the wild without guidance first.

YES! It's perfectly safe in the sense of traveling to any foreign country. The people are very friendly and usually surprised--even excited--to meet an American. Even crossing the border by auto is no problem, but if you're crossing back into Croatia late at night you may have to explain yourself at a random security stop :)

No worries. As long as you stay out of the unsavory places like the Arizona Market and such.

As with any travel, you should always keep your wits about you and your head on your shoulders, but B&H has come a long way in the past few years. Enjoy!
