There is not too much in the way of night travel in Laos. From what I saw there is only a VIP sleeper bus route between Vientiane and Pakse as well as one between Luang Probang and Kumming(China).

I found it easy on all counts. A great way to see a slice of "real" life. Bring some snacks and refreshments with you on the journey. You will see some beautiful vistas!!!
Good Journeys!

I have been tehere in the most commoon time, and it was so easy to buy bus ticket. I spent my new year's eve on the bus, and it was fun. From Pakse ti Vientiane. And it was enough to buy the ticket in that day. Nothing difficulties!

horrible. absolutely horrible. hire a car and a private driver for about $3/hr.
Also internal flights are very reasonably priced.

I did it a few years ago, don't expect any sleep but is possible. I was in Laos a few months ago and the roads are a lot better so no worries. And it's no rain season then, good luck

I don't think there are many night buses, and I would not recommend it anyways. The roads in Laos are very narrow and wind through mountains without any guard rails on the sides, so I would not think it would be safe to travel in the dark.

July rainy season? hmm don't think so. might be a little rain once and a while but nothing more. Real rain starts in august and only going hard for 1 week or so. Don't know anything about the VIP bus at night. always have been travelling during the day when I was there sorry
