I agree The Condesa area is great, it has many restaurants and bars. It is the trendy area!. Try also going to Polanco and Coyoacan. While you are there don't miss going to see the Pyramids in Teotihuacan (1.5 hrs form the city), Cuernavaca (also an hr away) and Xochimilco (they have gondolas that ride through canals. You can have good food, beer and music during the ride. Good areas to live: San Angel, Coyoacan, Tlalpan, La Condesa, Polanco, Col. del Valle (all of those neighborhoods are very nice). Restaurants: El Charco de las ranas -yummy tacos!, Arroyo, La Tablita. A cheap chain of restaurants with good food - Vip's or Sanborn's.
I am from Mexico City, if you need more info my e-mail is aguilar_mariana@yahoo.com.mx.
Good luck!!!

Try to find some green spot at Condesa's neighborhood...If you can also get to live there better, try a small really small place there called Yerbabuena... really good music
