For diving I recommend Roatan too. Cultural: visit the "Copan ruinas". A nice place too: Miami (Honduras), a Garifuna Village. Enjoy it.

Roatán is the well known place for diving, but down the shore front is Tela (which I don't think is yet very popularized, getting there though). There are nice hotels to stay there, and beautiful sunrises to see in the morning. I would highly recommend the Luces del Norte for garifuna food, and seafood...it is delicious!

The really well-known is Arenal Volcano, and it's well-known for a reason, so you definitely shouldn't miss it. It's absolutely gorgeous with the the lake and the forests. Also if you're thinking of traveling to the west coast, don't forget to stop by Manuel Antonio. It's a rain forest reserve that is right along the coast. I went to Copan to see ruins, but got a very nice surprise. There are som really beautiful hot springs there. My friend and I were the only ones there, it was amazing! Have a look at my blog stinemarisworld.blogspot.com

The Mayan ruins of Copan are a must see. Even though they are well known, it's not a turist trap of an attraction. Excellent views and a great universal atmosphere. Pico Bonito is a pristine forest complete with beautiful waterfalls and crystal streams. The water fall of Pulhapanzak is also a great attraction and a swim in the great lake of Yojoa would make for a great afternoon. Enjoy.

The Cayos Cochinos, a small archipelago off the northern coast of Honduras. 2 islands & 11 cays. I mean Roatan & Utila are beautiful but Cayos are definitely the best part of all the bay islands!! ITS AMAZING!!!
