Hi there Just enjoy it, it is a great place. Especially to see the ancient egypt. Try to arrange some guided tours at your hotel for the tempel of luxor. The great pyramids are unfortunately not there, they are in Kairo, as well as the sphinx is near kairo. But you can visit the valley of kings or the valley of queens, the tempel of hatschepsut etc. etc. there is a lot to see for sure. May be also enjoy a ride on the nile ;-) or visit hurghada, but this is a day trip. hope this helps and have fun danee

I haven't been to Egypt yet, but would love to travel there one day. If you are going to Luxor, you will be close to some of the Great Pyramids. I believe the Sphinx is there in Luxor. I would go to see that if I were there in Luxor. I would suggest that if you were interested in history or buildings etc. I hope this helps even though I haven't been there.

In one week you could visit both Cairo and Luxor. Luxor is small, you can see Karnak, Temple of Luxor, Hatshepsut's Temple and the Valley of the Kings in just a few days. Get a tour from your hotel or negotiate with a taxi driver to take you to the sites. You can catch an overnight train back and forth from Cairo too, check out the Pyramids and Sphinx in Cairo in one day and then head back to Luxor.

Luxor is a nice city with a lot to see. Definitely go to see the valley of the Kings and the valley of the Queens, you can hire a taxi to take you and pick you up from there, just make sure to negotiate because it's easy to over pay for ANYTHING. Go to the Luxor temple and Carnac temple as well. If you get a chance take a Nile cruise to Aswan it's 3 days and 2 nights and relatively cheap, about $50 USD per night. The cruises stop at various sites so that you can see numerous other temples. While in Aswan you can take a number of trips the best is Abu Simbel but its about a 2 hour drive you can also see the High Dam. Watch out because you will be hassled in Aswan, more so than in Luxor considering that 85% of their economy in that region is based on tourism... and as a female, watch how you dress. It will be VERY hot there during September but remember that it is a VERY conservative region and you will be hassled more by men on the street if you wear tank-tops or shorts... I recommend wearing something a little more conservative

i am going to egypt in march. are u staying in luxor the whole week, or starting there and touring around? like everyone has said, cairo, hurghada and aswan are all places to see as well. since ur there for such a short time, if u can afford it, i'd recommend flying to any of the places u wanna see. check out egyptair.com for decent prices. if u only do 1 trip outside of luxor go to cairo for a whole day, see the giza pyramids & sphinx, Saqqara, and the Citadel. if u have time for 2 trips outta luxor, i think i'd pick Hurghada just cuz it'd be a break away from the desert heat. the Red Sea beaches are gorgeous ... turquiose blue like the Caribbean! something u dont picture when u think of egypt! have a great trip ... i know i will!

This may sound really stupid but take English pounds, trust me you'll thank me when you get there, i lost £150 in the exchange of £600, if you go there most places accept sterling and if you need L.E you can get it converted in your hotel/on the boat

You will adore Luxor its an amazing place, two tips for you eat at kebabish on the nile more or less in front of the winter palace which you cannot miss, great for lunchtimes, but while you are there you must try the winter palace restaurant in the evening for a meal you will never forget the food its outstanding .. another tip - dont book your trips with a holiday company there a rip off you can get them 30% cheaper using the touts along the nile just be careful who you use, a trip also to westbank is reccomended go and see medinat hebu temple i promise you will be left in awe of the place :) that side of luxor also houses the valley of the kings which is worth a visit but beware its seriously hot so take lots of water :) Enjoy you'll love it :)
