In answer to the question: because we have to make a living in order to get food, lodging, etc. from other people who also have to make a living. So we either have no time to travel (because we are working) or no money (because we are not working). This is also the reason the world is steadily becoming less beautiful, as the beauty disappears under banal commercialism.
