The 39 steps is fantastic, it's off broadway but it's one of the best plays i've seen put on anywhere. it's a comedy pokeing fun at hitchcock movies so if you know his stuff then it's even funnier

Wicked is of course the one to see. But if you're not that into musicals, try American Idiot, Green Day's music made into a musical, I'm sure everyone would love it, it's like a rock concert. And Rent is another must see, amazing music, amazing storyline. But my favorite of all has to be Spring Awakening, it's very different but in a very good way. Of course it should be known that the show brings on stage scenes that everyone might not be comfortable with, so make sure you know what it is that you're going to see.

Wicked, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Legally Blonde, Spamalot, just to name a few! Most Disney musicals are a fair shot at a good time, too.
Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera are more serious in all aspects.
Wicked mixes whimsical fancy with both serious moments and comedy.
Legally Blonde also mixes both serious and comedic elements, and is an all around feel-good musical.
Spamalot is very silly, and will keep you laughing.
Same goes for Avenue Q, if you are not easily offended.
Disney's best broadway show so far has been Beauty and the Beast, which is no longer on Broadway. Lion King is also fantastic, however, and is still playing (to the best of my knowledge).

I saw Wicked and that was amaaaaazing, i've never been so impressed by a musical. And i usually don't like musicals, anyways, the story line is good and not flimsy like most musicals and because of it, i'll never look at The Wizard of Oz in the same way.

1) Mama Mia: Absolutely fun!!! I did not go with my husband who hates musical, but I saw many men who were absolutely enjoying the show as well. "A must"
2) Phantom of the Opera is a classic. The theater is small so no need to spend lots of money to seat in front.
