Skip Ivar's. Here are some of the biggies in dt Seattle. Wild Ginger (Thai fusion), Pink Door (in the Pike Place Market - Italian), Il Bistro (also Italian and in the PPM), Campagne (Provencal with touch of NW, also in the PPM), Restaurant Zoe (Americana in Belltown). Dick's (burgers, fries and shakes on Capital Hill and Lower Queen Anne) is a Seattle institution - just beware you may need a heart bypass afterwards:)

Depending on your Price Range: Salty's is about $$$ but they have good food (could just go for the desserts and the amazing view of seattle). Whatever you do don't eat the Space Needle. Ivar's on Pier 49 (?) is good for a quick Fish and Chips and is a landmark restaurant. I love the Russian place at Pike Place it is about a block North of the Original Starbucks.

Atlantic Street Pizza in the U District, or Pasta Freska on Westlake. Both are amazing.

I like seafood so I always hit up Ivar's (try the Salmon Chowder!). The restaurant atop the Space Needle is popular for tourists and locals on special occasions, but I can't recall if their food is as nice as the prices would suggest. I also like getting drinks and good food at the Mexican restaurants, The Matador in Ballard, Cactus in Eastlake and Sonrisa in the U Village.

I can confirm there are MANY fabulous places to eat in Seattle and none of them are far but Spud's fish n chips is the best, it's been around for years. One by Greenlake and one on Alki. But if you want a nicer place for dinner.. McCormicks & Schmicks is really good!

My favorite is in The Arctic Club Hotel on 3rd and Cherry. Its called JUNO. The food is unique and the presentation is breathtaking. Try the happy hour. For Breakfast the french toast is a hit and the smoked salmon benedict is to die for....try it
