Railay Island is small but a fun spot for a couple of days. You can rock climb the cliffs over the water and see many "wild" monkeys.

definately Railay!! most outstanding views! rock climbing, hiking to lookout points, elephant trekking, day trips to nearby Phi Phi Islands, Phang Nga Bay and Koh Lanta.

Ko Thao - the snorkeling trip here was wonderful and if you like walking a bit you can find very nice and lonely bays!

I live in Koh Samui, a lot of things to do here good nightlife, beach party, nearby islands around likes Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Angthong Nation Park and have all international cuisines... not so big as Phuket but relax and everywhere are easy to reached, a bit more expensive for Thai but for foreigners may not.

Koh Tao for less of a hectic pace (just don't stay in Hat Sairee). Hua Hin - due to the fact that it is the home of our King's Winter Palace - the town has a much more authentically Thai vibe than the Andaman(sp?) and Gulf island beaches. There is also a beautiful and lively old town constructed of wood.

I love Thailand in the rearview mirror. Any "undiscovered" island you hear of will be discovered and covered in resorts by the time you reach it.

I just loved Railey (best for climbing, I have climbed along with monkeys!), Ko Phi Phi (snorkling at Shark Point and Maia Bay, kanoeing) and Ko Lanta (to relax, great food).

Ko Chang for mellow, relaxed beaches.
Similans for diving.
Ko Phi Phi for fun (& decent diving).
Ko Samui for a mix of activities (though more "touristy").

Big Island on Thailand
Ko Puket, Ko Chang (Trad), Ko Sa mui (Surattanee),Ko Samet (Rayong) You can find more than sand and sea (Especially Phuket it is the city it have everything Sand, Sea, Trekking, Motor bike riding, Sport, Shopping, Cinema etc.
To narrow down small island
PhiPhi (Southtern), Ko Pa ngun (Full moon Party),
Ko Larn (Pattaya), Ko SriChang, Ko Lanta etc it also more than sand and water
Smaller than this will this is for silent or minorities activites

One of the best kept secret islands here is Koh Samet - not NEARLY as "touristic"as Samui or Phuket

I loved Koh Samui and Koh Tao. Samui has awesome restraunts, you can do a thai cooking course, island safari day tour with elephants; Tao has awesome diving and snorkling and its a short ferry ride from samui.

You can hike through the rainforest up to a waterfall up in the mountains on Ko Samui. You can also take a ride on an elephant. There's a lot of partying on Phuket
