There are all tropical paradises but the people are different. In Arambol and anjuna you'll find more backpackers, musicians, hippies, parties,... In Colva you'll find more old people and more comfortable and expensive resorts (and a straight beach instead of bays) For the beaches near Panjim you'll pay to much and it's more for Indians I had the feeling. (small) Vagator is most beautiful one of the once I saw, a bit less people, still touristy but more quiet after sunset compared to Arambol. Palolem (famous for the silent noise parties) I haven't seen unfortunately. Enjoy!

It depends. If you like wealthy resorts etc. go north... If you are more of a backpacker kind of person happy with only a bed and cold but running water the perfect spot is Palolem Beach. Palm leaf huts and hammocks for 10 Euros per day!!! Eat and drink for 10 euros per day. Enjoy!!!
