i spent a few days in the San Ignacio area in the mountains / rainforest ... gorgeous ... but worst roads I have ever traveled! be prepared for very long journeys even to nearby places.

The city of Belize is not very pleasant, not feel safe in it. Already the islands are more interesting, the sea and beautiful warm water. Belize is not as Mexico, the place is more rustic with few amenities, only a beautiful nature and a traditional Caribbean blue sea.
