I can recommend you San Pedro de Atacama in the north of Chile. You can make excursions to the nearby Salt Lake, see Geysirs, rent a bike etc....

Pueto Montt very nice city, lots of beautiful places to visit. Very very cheap.

i recommend to go to easter island!! the flights are not cheap, but it is worth to be there for 3 or 4 days. there are not many tourists and you can literally be alone while watching all these stone statues...

Chile is a wonderful country. North and South are equally beautiful but in different ways. The parts I like the most were La Serena (500kms north of Santiago), Puerto Varas and Chiloe (both around 1000 kms South). The beach is very nice and so is the scenery in the North but the south is amazing because of all the Volcanoes, the lakes, the mountains, the interesting people...

Don't miss Torres del Paine or the Lake District. Also the Atacama Desert - go star-watching there. It's breathtaking!

in san pedro de atacama you can go sand boarding and horse riding in the dunes!! both great! fab views too! and i didnt do it but theres also suposed to b amazing star gazing trips too!!!

I love very much Parque Nacional Lauca in the North of Chile near the border of Bolivia...Beautiful landscape, Vulcanos, Lagune with flamingos wild animals..etc..and very few tourists
