Such a question is likely to provoke heated debate among Germans: northerners versus southerners. I've been living in Berlin for three years so I'm partial to Berlin. Berlin is not particularly beautiful the way Paris and London is, but the nightlife is completely unique and diverse, and there is a ton of great history in Berlin as well. You'll find that Munich is more polished, prettier, and friendlier. But personally I find Berlin to be more "real." For travelers on a budget, Berlin is also the way to go. Munich is a fairly expensive city, while Berlin is still rather cheap. On the other hand, you can easily visit both. The train between Munich and Berlin only takes a few hours.

Both cities are very nice, full of history, museums and sightseeing. Berlin is definitive the bigger one and is a very unique, big city. Munich is nice to but much smaller. Nightlife is excellent in both city's. Munich is close to the alps and Berlin is close to the baltic sea.

Definitely Berlin!! It's a funky bizarre wonderful city with tastes of everything. If you like nightlife it's the place to be or if you want to just speak a little German and sit in a park, it's such a wonderful city. There's always something fun to do and always something cultural going on! It's a great city, don't miss it!

Depends on what are you planning to do? Berlin is definitely more interesting as a city but Munich has some nice surroundings. So for urban adventure go to Berlin for sceenery you can enjoy Minich area as well.

Berlin is far better, not only because it is the capital of Germany but it has a lot of sightseeing things and munchen is way south and they have their own accent, own culture etc. to discover more of germany itself and its history I would say Berlin

Berlin is by far the better place to visit checkpoint Charlie Brandenburgh Gates the Museams and def a visit to nearby Potsdamm
