Depends on your priority. For reliability Lufthansa and Swiss tend to top the list. For upgraded comfort, the Asian airlines and Virgin are great. For extra leg room in economy, United's Economy Plus is the way to go. Food, depends on your taste and destination. For fares, look for competitive routings (flying to Frankfurt is frequently cheaper than Cologne or Stuttgart, for example, just 'cause more flights go there) and check out discount airlines though you'll sacrifice comfort for money. Research the route you want to take first and available airlines, then the actual flight and planes you're considering. Try seatguru.com or other similar sites to compare available seating options.

Sometimes you have no choice -- for instance, if you want to go to Micronesia, Continental is the only game in town. For many years, I was in Northwest's frequent flyer program, but now that they've merged with Delta, I withhold my judgement as I wait and see how Delta does...

It depends where you are and where you want go. In general, I think EK is pretty good, QR is also nice. The EK has perfect routes all over the world, and the service and food are satisfied.

KLM seats are comfortable, food is good, snacks and drinks available freely at the pantry, toilets are spacious. Check in luggage 23 kg, carry on 12 kg. Amsterdam airport is very nice

Emirates is great, but my favorite is Asiana - Air New Zealand is also surprisingly near the top.
