What is the best season for Alaska travel?

I was there for a couple of months (Sept - Oct) and it was fantastic to see the winter come. If I go back, i want to during the summer and see the other side.

august..went camping with my son...no rain the whole trip..by pass fairbanks..i thought it wasnt worth the time

Probably winter. It will give you a true impression of the place.

June-August is best overall. If you like hiking then later is better (after June). If you want to go to Denali, then again wait a bit later and go in July or early August. If you travel in early June or late August things may be cheaper as it isn't 'peak' season.

Definitely summer unless you want to freeze. In the summer it's usually in the 60s F in southern Alaska, in the winter it rarely breaks 30.
