be sure you go see the byzantine cisterns! they are a little bit hidden on one side of the aya sophia, but they are worth seeing!

Hello my friend.I live in Istanbul. And i should advice you these places.In European Part ; Historical Peninsula( Topkapı Palace,Hagia Sophia,Sultanahmet Mosque,Kapalı Çarşı,Yerebatan and other ancient places),Golden Horn( Haliç in Turkish), Galata Tower, Taksim Square, Beyoğlu, Ortakoy, Kurucesme(there are great discos,bars in this place), take a boat tour in Bosphorus, go to Kızkulesi(Maiden's Tower) in the middle of the sea and have a meal in the great restaurant.In Asian Part ; Uskudar,Kadıkoy,Bagdat Caddesi, Prince Islands (must see).and if u have a chance and if u like go to a football game of BESIKTAS JK in Inonu Stadium and see the great ambiance tt you'll never see anywhere. I could write more but i have to stop. Istanbul can not be explained, you have to live it. Enjoy Istanbul ... Good luck.

hi there,i just came back form istanbul.the most i liked was the Golden Horn,then the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia.

Topkapi and Dolmabahce Palaces are must see... also Hagia Sophia and Byzantium cisterns. You should definetely take the ferries across the Bosphorous strait. You will be able to travel to Asia from Europe in 15 minutes...

In Istanbul i was just one day, but i like it very much. You should see Hagia Sofia, Bosporus, Bridge, Grand Bazar, Centre (Taksim avenue) and sea.

If you love art you should go to Karye Misezi, it's a bit far from the sultanhamet area (where all the actractive stuff, like S.Sofia, Topkapi etc, is, but it's really worth to!

Hagia Sofia and the Bosporus.

Granted I've not been but it's a place i'd love to go to and i'd agree with Lenka H from what i'm told. It's a beautiful place steeped in history.
