Have a trip on the cable car to the Marina and walk to Pier 39... if you have a car, don't miss the Lombard street and the Golden Gate crossing. Also the Italian quarter is an interesting visit..

Rent a bicycle and ride over the Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito. Then, take the ferry back. It's easy! Go to Pier 39 or so and rend a bike from Blazin' Saddles (or any of the others). You'll have a few short hills to climb, but the gearing on the bikes is good for that. The view is spectacular, even if it's foggy. Once you cross the bridge, chances are it'll be sunny in Sausalito. Sausalito has beautiful shops and marina and restaurants and so forth. The ferry ride back offers views of the city, the bridges and Alcatraz. We spent $50 each (covers bike rental and ferry ride back) on the day (plus lunch) and had a ball. Dress comfortably in layers as it can be very cool in San Fran and very hot in Sausalito.

Visit the cat club on folsom on a thursday night.I spent three weeks in SF and spent every thursday night in it. Great crowd, great bartenders, excellent music and a fair price in. I really really miss this place. Visit it, You will love it!

Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum! It definitely interesting and it close to some of the main attractions. Its between the warf and the SF Maritime National Historic Park. Right off the Golden Gate.

Get someone to bring you up to twin peaks (you can go yourself if you have a car) - best view of the city PLUS is helps orient you to your surroundings!

All these guys give great answers.... When I visited I went & saw The Golden Gate, Alcatraz, Peir 39 and just wondered about... It is a great city and you have some really good suggestions from people. I ate at a restaurant called Bubba Gumps, was great for sea food. Have a great time :-)

San Francisco is a brilliant city anyway, but good places to go are Golden Gate and if you like "The Rock" Alcatraz is a good choice, too.

rent a bike at Pier 39 and make the trip across the golden gate bridge to sausalito and belvedere and from there you can take a ferry back.

alcatraz!!! very impressive! walking through china town! wow sooo big and lot's of great shops with little things you find nowhere else. fishermann's wharf! great atmosphere

roam around pier 39... grab a loaf of sourdough and check out Ghiradelli square. Tour the infamous Alcatraz!
