August is the best time to visit Athens, all the locals are on vacation and the city is considerably less conjested. It's still very hot though. September is also great, Must visit monastiraki(bazaar)and psiri for some local bars and music. Must see the new museum, it's fantastic! As for the islands, if you are looking for crazy partying, go july through aug, if your looking for quit time, after sept.

Best time to visit Athens is in the summer, around June to August. The Acropolis and the Zeus Temple are a must see. Despite that there is lot of pollution, you do not need to rent a car, just use the subway or better, walk around because most of historical places are close.

The best time of the year to visit Athens is Spring and especially May, where the weather is nice and not that hot, sunny and the daytime is longer so you can get advantage of sightseeing as much as possible. Furthermore, it is a nice time of the year to visit an island, because won't be packed with people like in summer time! Hope u enjoy your time there!

Aside from the rainy days, February to April is rather nice if not a tad bit chilly. There are incredibly few tourists and many of the sits can be experienced relatively alone. The locals are all around but they are incredibly nice and love when you try and use their language!

Go in May! Unless you like overcrowded everything, rediculously hot temperatures and enjoying your vacation with about a million other people. If you go in May it's still warm enough to swim in the med, but still cool enough to hike through the plaka to the acropolis without dying.

don't go during summer!! unless you like very hot weather and lots of tourists, so you can't cross streets and visit wonders of Athens. Neither during Spring holidays : best time for unlikely tourists groups. Do prefer April or May when there not so much people : you'll see much more the kindness of athenians!

It really depends on what you're looking for. I think it's better in April or even better in May when it's not too hot and you can walk around without getting sunburnt or fed up with heat. Trust me!

I would avoid summer months- it can be sizzling... spring/autumn are by far the best, though Athens has a mild climate so it really is never very cold and chances are that you'll have sun

April/May without a doubt. Possibly also September/October. The rest of the summer it's blistering hot and extremely busy. Oh, and make sure the taxi drivers switch their meters on.

I live in Athens and in my opinion the best time to visit it is in July-August, because the most people are gone for vacations and you won't get mad with all the traffic.

Pollution , Pollution. The Accropolis is a must see. If going to the islands, spend the night in Rafina, not Athens.
